This gentle and effective herb is valued in many cultures to detoxify from many sources. Dandelion also supports kidney function and healthy digestion. It is classified as a bitter, or an herb that has been used traditionally to improve appetite and support normal digestion.

In the folk medicine of many countries, dandelion root is made into a tonic for the liver. Preliminary studies suggest that dandelion root stimulates the liver to increase bile flow. Once bile is released by the liver, its two main functions are to carry away waste and to break down fats during digestion.

This root is suitable for the following preparations:

  • Tea
  • Decoction
  • Extract/tincture

Do not take dandelion supplements if diagnosed with inflammation of the gallbladder or bile duct obstruction. Not recommended for use while pregnant or nursing until further research verifies no contraindications. Keep out of reach of children. Discontinue if unusual symptoms occur. Do not exceed recommended dose unless under the guidance of a health care professional.

Individuals sensitive to plants in the daisy family (sesquiterpene lactone-containing plants) should use all dandelion supplements with caution.

This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. A health care professional should be consulted regarding the use of herbal products.
